Introduction
“There are many distinct pleasures associated with computer programming. Craftsmanship has its quiet rewards, the satisfaction that comes from building a useful object and making it work. Excitement arrives with the flash of insight that cracks a previously intractable problem. The spiritual quest for elegance can turn the hacker into an artist. There are pleasures in parsimony, in squeezing the last drop of performance out of clever algorithms and tight coding.”
-     Steven S. Skiena and Miguel A. Revilla, Programming Challenges-The Programming Contest Training Manual
Online programming contests provide an exciting and stimulating opportunity to improve your algorithmic and coding skills and compete with like-minded souls. Inscription is the international online programming contest of Engineer 2008. The contest will consist of a set of challenging problems to which solutions need to be submitted within time constraints. This involves not only the design of correct, efficient algorithms for complex problems, but also the challenging task of writing working code for the algorithms which tests your programming, debugging and fine-tuning skills to the very hilt. Inscription 2008 provides you the exciting opportunity to do all this.

Right since its inception in 2005, Inscription has been very well received and is one of Engineer's most popular events. It has always invited the best programming minds from all over the world. Hundreds of teams, from all over the world compete each year, including teams from Yahoo, Microsoft and Stanford. Problem statements are of high standards, set in consultation with professors at MIT Boston.
